Opened a bug against the open build service, just in case:

https://github.com/openSUSE/open-build- ... issues/344

The correct sudo command (for Ubuntu 12.04) to invoke is this:

Code: Select all
sudo sh -c "echo 'deb http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:Tvangeste/xUbuntu_12.04/ /' >> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/goldendict.list"

Hello, Tvangeste. There is no information about these packages and about Portable Linux version in Download section of website: http://goldendict.org/download.php ("Bleeding-edge versions" section). I don't know where I could report it, so I decided to post this here.

Indeed. There are no links to Linux and MacOS Early Access builds as well. I think we need to release GoldenDict 1.5 first and then thoroughly update the pages on the main GoldenDict site. Thanks for the report, I've filed an issue in our issue tracker:

Hello

I am very excited about the new goldendict release with full text search. Is here any opportunity to have an deb package or portable version?

Thanx in advance

Daily rebuild RPM packages of goldendict can be downloaded from here:
http://software.opensuse.org/download.h ... goldendict
(build service here: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show ... ict-master).

We need person to fix builds for DEB packages.

I've set up a project on openSUSE build service to build the latest GoldenDict code on various Linux distros (more than 20 different ones!).

From time to time I will be rebuilding the packages with the up-to-date GoldenDict sources. This will be a good test for developers (to see that nothing is broken on all different GCC/Qt versions). And it could be beneficial for the end users who could easily upgrade to the latest and greatest with minimal hassle.

(updated only mingw_win32, Factory, Tumbleweed not used by usual users).

I'd say that portable Linux Build could be still useful for some folks (I know a couple of them, they use very old or quite custom builds, sometimes without any access to Internet at all). For such folks having a single portable version which they could download and put into a flash drive is useful.

But it seems that we are really trying to cover *very* rare corner cases. I'd say that creating the portable build from time to time is still useful, but not as much important as it was before.

I agree with first, but not with second.
" *very* rare corner cases" is to create win32 portable versions and it is "not as much important as it was before" WinNT6.2 and newer based systems, which where gone on portable devices.

Hello

After three years after my switch from win to linux there is the right time to move forward and move to next level. I am able now to build deb package for me and you. Now possible to download in Bodhi Linux repository

http://packages.bodhilinux.com/bodhi/po ... oldendict/

Enjoy

And what about standard rpm packages (it is desirable, that without extra dependences)?
Thanks in advance.
