En-Ru-En content

Postby Antonovich » Sun Sep 22, 2013 7:25 pm

Hi,

Does anyone know if this dictionary is usable on the mobile (free) version? The paid version? If it is... Could someone point me to instructions? Basically, I'm looking for a Russian to English dictionary for FBReader. Is GoldenDict for me?

Thanks!

Yes, it is for you. :)

Download the "En-Ru-En Content" from the official download page: http://goldendict.org/download.php

The free version of GoldenDict for Android has some limitations (basically, only 5 dictionaries can be used). Try the free version first and then upgrade if you like.

Great news :-). Sorry about being such a noob but could someone tell me exactly what I'm supposed to transfer to my device (N7)? If I understand correctly I can load it manually or have a look for the goldendict directory and place the dict files there - is that right? There are heaps of files and I would really love to be able to have it recognise different morphological variants... I see there is a morphological directory in the bzip file but I'm not sure what is needed.
Thanks a million,
Anton

Аnton, yes, you'd just need to copy the dictionaries (in supported formats) to the appropriate directory on the device.

The directory and supported formats in the mobile GoldenDict are listed here:

Thanks. I'm sorry to be such a dunce about this but in the bz2 there are lots of files - I'm not one to copy lot's of useless files if they're not needed - can someone tell me exact what files are necessary? Do I need the files from the morphology directory? Thanks again!

*_abrv.dsl - abbreviations for the appropriate dictionaries

*.ann - annotations for the appropriate dictionaries

*.bmp - icons for the appropriate dictionaries

*.dsl.dz - compressed main dictionary

rtf, txt - for your information only
defconfig - have no idea what's there

speech.lsa - audio pronunciations for the Lingvo Universal dictionaries

P.S. abbreviations and annotations are optional, you can live without them, but they are typically very small and it is recommended to keep them for the completeness sake.

P.P.S. If you really, really, really serious about removing everything, just keep the *.dsl.dz files, that should be enough.

Damn! Perfect. Thanks for everyone's help. Does the paid version make dictionary addition easier, like having an online db download system? If yes I'll buy immediately, if not I'll give it a better run-through beforehand :-).
Cheers,
