Sound problem with Goldendict Linux

Postby sharkking » Mon Oct 07, 2013 12:45 am

Hi,
I'm using Goldendict 1.0.1 on Ubuntu and have problem with sound (lingvo dictionary). For single words, the spelling is quite OK but for composite words, the sound is cut short e.g. for "Australian Capital Territory" the sound is cut to "Australian Cap". Anybody here has experience like that?
Cheers

GoldenDict 1.0.1 is more than 2 years old and have multiple issues with sounds due to being based on Phonon API which is buggy. GoldenDict v1.5 release is around the corner and has replaced Phonon with an audio player based on ffmpeg/libav and libao which is more reliable. Meanwhile, I strongly recommend you to get one of the Early Access build which have proved to be quite stable. You can get one rpm or deb package here: http://goldendict.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2333
Or try the portable Linux version you can find here: http://goldendict.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1764
