No program name was given error

Postby josephine » Sat Jun 01, 2013 9:02 am

Hello.
When I look up some words I get this error "No program name was given" and the program crashes. Could you please help me solve it?

Very hard to understand what's going on. Need more info. Whan OS do you use, what GoldenDict version (press F1 to figure it out), what exactly do you do when the error occurs? Can you make a screenshot with the error message?

Hello, thank you for your reply. OS - Linux Debian 7, dictionary version 1.0.1
I type pencil, for example, it's ok, but after I type certain words combinations, such as class of regulators, etc. it gives this error and crashes.

OK, got it.

Most probably, you have some "Programs"-style dictionaries which are incorrectly configured. Please take a look at Menu -> Dictionaries -> Sources -> Programs. Try to disable such dictionaries one by one and see which one causes the problems.

Once identified, please post the command line you're use in this dictionary and we'll see.

Thank you! The problem was with the audio. It was set to auto-pronounce the word. When I wrote a combination, it just couldn't find the right audio file, I guess.

Ah, good! :)

Does this happen mostly (or even exclusively) with headwords that contain spaces, by any chance? :)

How do you play the sounds, what's in the Audio tab settings?

Hmmmm, so you don't use any external program to play sounds...

Looking at the code, I see the only place where "No program name was given" error could occur, and that's in Programs-based dictionaries.

Do you have anything set in Menu -> Dictionaries -> Sources -> Programs?
