If you'd manage to wrap it up into one of the supported dictionary formats.

I suppose it could be done if you run it as an webpage through apache on your pc/mac.
And here is a link how to do it: http://users.softlab.ece.ntua.gr/~ttsiod/buildWikipediaOffline.html
After downloading and running wikipedia you just add the address to GoldenDict.

I haven't done this yet, so i would be greatful to know if it works.

With Okawix program (www.okawix.com) you can download fresh Wikipedia in any of 253 languages with or without images and then look up entries in it. But GoldenDict cannot look up words in Okawix files.

I have the same question.
The solution is that you can wrap wikipedia dump into stardict format.
Does GoldenDict support mediawiki "sametypesequence" in stardict dictionaries ?

If you can download wikipedia, it means you can deploy it locally using MySQL/Apache. Problem solved ;)

For me it's not the solution. I want it as a simple dictionary. I don't want to install mysql/php/apache.

Personally I have been using aarddict for offline wikipedia content.
As already mentioned, stardict used to have wikipedia support, and I still have a copy of simple wiki in stardict format.
I opened it in goldendict, but it looks awful. So, I guess goldendict does not support maketypesequence=w.
Although, I remember that stardict itself did not have very good wikipedia support either. Also, the author of stardict had not managed to compile the largest wikipedias (en, fr, de) due to size limitations.
So, stardict format is pretty much a no-go.

Ok, so I have downloaded the WHOLE Wikipedia from the link above (from Uploaded.net) and from now on, I have the whole human knowledge stored at home, on my computer... ;)

...and on my Android too!

Everything works just fine, you just have to get over the fact that the downloaded Wikipedia doesn't contain any pictures.
After you download and extract the RAR files, there is a 2.3GB folder named "enwiki-20130304-popular". It contains only the most popular articles. You may want to delete it as it seems useless.
