As far as I know, there is no specific GoldenDict format.
Many xdxf dictionaries are already converted to Stardict format that you can use as is in GoldenDict.

If you are Linux guy, you can probably find something useful at:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/xdxf/

There's no proprietary Goldendict format. GD works with many existing formats, such as DSL or Stardict.

So all you need it to convert your dictionary to one of those formats supported by GD. Or try to rename your file to .dict and see if it works.

Just extract all content of archive into your GoldenDict folder, with all folders structure (don't forget to close GoldenDict before it). Or you can to extract archive content into some new folder and start GoldenDict from it, if you want to preserve old GoldenDict version.

Thanks a lot Abs62!
-> and Done!
-> but... still cannot see the xdxf dictionary in GoldenDict??

I have tried to go "Edit" -> "Dictionaries..." -> "Files"
-> and click on the "rescan now" button
-> but still no use

So how can I let GoldenDict to recognise this xdxf dictionary?

Rgd,

Yeah, same here. I compiled the latest GoldenDict from source on Ubuntu and followed the same steps as hhtmp88, but no joy. ]-: Are XDXF dictionaries really supported or not? What's going on with them? Has anybody had success opening one in an early release on any platform?
