From Stardict to Babylon

Postby stayfi » Tue Dec 20, 2011 8:57 am

Hello,
1. I want to convert stardict dicts to BGL, babylon format, a way back.
2. Babylon engine, is way better than the stadict's one, also, the 1 file format is more convenient.

thanks all.

You can just follow the instructions from http://www.babylon.com/products/builder/
But, keep in mind that the Stardict format is not exactly the same as Babylon format, you should modify your source files.
And if you have audio files, unfortunately, you could not use them in BGL format.
Babylon uses an external TTS engine for audio play.

you should modify your source files

1. Yes, my stardict dictionary comes with 3 files, the data is stored with the one ending with: dict.dz
2. How to bring a GLS or TXT or an excel file out of it?
thanks Patrick.

dict.dz is a compressed file. it should be decompressed with 7zip, for example.
once you have dictionary.dict, just use Stardict Editor to decompile the dictionary, you will get TEXT file.
the coming thing is to convert text file to gls formatted file. this needs some tricks.
but in general, if you should both of the formats, it's a quite easy job.
sorry, I don't have any program to do this. I've wrote a script to do this, and I cannot find it any more.
