Try clicking on it -- this option is never grayed out.

hy, in my case is grey and i casn not turned on. Is strange, i thought that could be because of the user (not admin), but i am as administrator...

Maybe you confuse the "Start with system" option with the "Start to system tray"? The option you need is to the right. You may want to enable system tray too - then the option on the left would be available as well.

i think that i am not confused!
I go to preferences, interface tab and on the bottom right side is "Star up - square start with the system" so that square is dark gray and i can not select that one.
Another way to start up automatically ?

Oh, I have an idea - you probably use a distro-specific version whose maintainer has disabled this option.

The startup is usually DE-specific. If you use KDE, you can make program start up automatically by creating a symlink to the program from ~/.kde/Autostart:

Code: Select all
mkdir -p ~/.kde/Autostart/
ln -s /usr/bin/goldendict  ~/.kde/Autostart/

If you use Gnome or other DE, try googling -- I don't know the details for those.

edit: from the window decorations I assume Ubuntu and Gnome -- well, use google :)

yeah i am using ubuntu.

Now i got it, although that option is not available, people with my problem should go to
System -» Preferences -» Startup Application and add Goldendict.

Itś easy althought i spent a little, to find out ;)
I am a newby in ubuntu stuff.

Thanks man as well.
