Portable Version?

The portable version is simply magnificent. I have just tested it on several PCs, running XP, Vista and Windows 7, and it behaved beautifully, even with my absurdly large collection of dictionaries.

I am already recommending it to everyone I know. This is extremely useful. Many thanks indeed.

Alec.

I recommend you to update to the latest snapshot. An awkward problem with the random crashes was solved.

Hi!

I just tried GoldenDict's portable mode, and it doesn't appear to be truly portable. Files, including the settings file, are being left in %APPDATA%\GoldenDict, despite the presence of the portable folder.

Is that a bug, or is it intended behavior? (Or did I just screw up?)

Thanks!

Does anything land in that portable folder at all? Maybe your version is old?

Nothing. The folder is completely empty.

No, it's a freshly downloaded copy of 0.9.0 (the 32-bit Windows installer).

0.9.0 isn't portable. Use the latest GIT snapshot.

I just downloaded Gloggy's build (http://goldendict.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=77&p=3127#p3127) and it's working perfectly.

Sorry about the confusion!

Hi,
I tried the portable version that I downloaded from http://rghost.net/1784958 and it's fantastic!!!

I've a question for Konstantin and Gloggy: in our company we need a software like this one that every body can use in all the computer is available. We use our particular dictionaries that we don't want are copied from our staff guys or our customers.
For me your software is the best one, and I those to use it but better encripting the database. If you give us the permission, I would like to add a some code's line in the GoldenDict source that decript on fly our encripted dictionaries. For this I need also the source code of this portable version.

Antother point: I saw that you developp a lot of upgrades and patchs; maybe you already did something like this... ;)

In any case, I have to tell you that you did a very nice and usefull software.

If you are good with coding (as you imply), then the barn door is open: http://gitorious.org/goldendict/goldend ... its/master. The code is available. I am not sure how compliant your step would be with the open source license GNU GPL v.3 (I presume that you wouldn't want to share your decryption code or maybe you will).
