Thanx Chulai. Nice, you do not forget linux users :)

Is there a "D" - day in plan when GD will be put in repository? I think it is mature enough with many improvements in order to be place there in official version. Only one step is missing and it is full-text searching (but it was metioned thousand times here). I remerber you redirect some asking users to Tvangeste. Don't you have some news about this request?

Thanx anyway

I don't know of any plan to release a major version. More than lack of full-text search I'd like to tackle the open bugs:
https://github.com/goldendict/goldendic ... state=open

Also there are other bugs that were never reported in the Github issue tracker:
  1. BUG: Double-click in tab bar doesn't open a new tab in Ubuntu and Mac. FIXED
    viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1210
  2. BUG: Large BGL file is not indexed FIXED
File: Oxford English Dictionary (2nd Edition).bgl.
It's apparently added to GoldenDict but the index file is too small and no terms can be searched.
    viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1535
  3. BUG: Letters with diacritics not displayed in BGL if ANSI encoding FIXED
Workaround is to use UnpackBgl to generate GLS and then compile the BGL again with Babylon Glossary Builder using UTF-8 encoding.
    viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1222
  4. BUG: Strange translation words in Urdu BGL file FIXED
    File: English_To_Urdu_Lughat.BGL.
It runs perfectly fine on babylon. However it shows strange translation words when running on GoldenDict.
    viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1510
  5. BUG: search results right side alignment
    viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1294
  6. BUG: Ubuntu 11.10 with unity 2d sometimes does not display menubar correctly WON'T FIX
    viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1605
  7. BUG: Ubuntu 12.04 with Unity 3d and left panel issue. WON'T FIX
BUG: Ubuntu 12.04 with Unity 3d and main window positioning issue. FIXED?
BUG: Ubuntu 12.04 with Unity 3d and tray icon repetition issue when enable/disable system tray icon. FIXED?
    viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1693

3. BUG: Large BGL file is not indexed
File: Oxford English Dictionary (2nd Edition).bgl.
It's apparently added to GoldenDict but the index file is too small and no terms can be searched.

BTW, this colossal file indexes and performs flawlessly in android mobile GD (asus transformer tf101; samsung gs3)

5. BUG: Ubuntu 11.10 with unity 2d sometimes does not display menubar correctly
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1605

Also, this could safely be ignored as unity 2d is now dropped and 11.10 is an year old and either already or soon will reach end of support. Thanks for the early access builds by the way.

Hi,

About 2 months ago, i was very happy to find GoldenDict portable. After looking for a long time, i could work with GoldenDict for Ubuntu with pictures.

After updating from Ubuntu 12.04 to Ubuntu 12.10 I was very disappointed, that GoldenDict Portable did not work anymore.

Is there already a version that will work with Ubuntu 12.10?

with regards, Flip

Goldendict portable works fine here in ubuntu 12.10 64 bit (gnome remix).
Are you using the latest builds from github? Are you getting any errors when running from a terminal?

Edit: Okay, You might need to create the thumbnails folder (I was getting that error and I did create the folder). Please read the troubleshooting session F (thanks again to chulai for covering almost all error conditions in that session)
Code: Select all
$ cd $HOME
$ mkdir .thumbnails
$ mkdir .thumbnails/normal

Hi,

When I doubleclick on GoldenDict nothing happens.

When I run ls, I see GoldenDict in the list, but when I then run GoldenDict, got the message : Not Found

You maybe need to mark the file as executable.

Hi, at last, I had a problem with GoldenDict on Ubuntu 12.10.

I downloaded GoldenDict Portable on troubleshoot point E.

Code: Select all
Alternatively, you can download:

GoldenDict 1.0.1-313-g83bdb1d-i386.AppDir.tar.gz - Last updated: 2012-09-24
GoldenDict 1.0.1-313-g83bdb1d-x86_64.AppDir.tar.gz - Last updated: 2012-09-24

I did that before, but on my test computer (also with Ubuntu 12.10) it didn't work.
I tried it now on my main computer and it works very well now.

Thanks for your support.

Why GD faults with more than 500 dictionaries?
Excuse me for my English.
Thanks in advance.
