Actually, there is a way to change fonts in GoldenDict, for those who really, really want it. :)

You need to tweak article-style.css file. Its location is system-dependent though.

Here's what I have in mine:

Code: Select all
body
{
  background: white; font-family: TahomaPlus, Palatino Linotype, Arial Unicode MS;
}

Yes, by default there is no such file.

One need to create it in the proper place. For example, on my Windows 7 the file located at

C:\Users\YOU_USER_NAME\AppData\Roaming\GoldenDict

Try to look for "config" or "history" files, and create the article-style.css in the same directory where you find config and history ones.

Can anybody post a working css file please? I've tried a few times to get this to work but can't.

I'm using the dictionary for Chinese translation so I need to use a specific font to properly display the characters.

Thanks.

I found this:

http://gitorious.org/goldendict/goldend ... 26bbfb/src

Hope this is correct. I need a bit of time to look through it though, really don't know how to edit it properly.

My file is at the message 2 in this topic. The only tricky part is to make sure that you place your file in the proper place so that GoldenDict could find and use it.

I've found the right place, the program acknowledges that the file exists. I put it in
C:\Users\**User_name**\AppData\Roaming\GoldenDict
Using Windows 7.

However, the top of the popup box just shows the actual text of the css file. Is there supposed to be anything in the header of the file or literally just the text you provided?

Here's my article-style.css file in full: http://pastie.org/1648008

But you really need only the first three lines, and you might need to adjust the font names to your tastes. For example, I use my own extended TahomaPlus font instead of the standard Tahoma (I changed some symbols and added some). Naturally, you could provide other names there.
