Phone calls: read phone status and identity.

This Android app permission coupled with Full Network Access seems intrusive and ruining a potentially good app.

Some clarification on the app permissions would be appreciated.

Exactly. I use ABBYY Lingvo, but in last update they included the "Phone calls" permission. Of cause, without any explanation. So I've searched for alternatives and found goldendict. And it requires the same permission! Once again without comments.
